Friday 24 April 10am-5pm
Spend a creative day immersed in the art of millinery and leave wearing - or well on your to finishing - your very own handmade straw sun hat.
This one-day workshop is designed for beginners and curious creatives who want to experience the joy of traditional hat-making. You’ll learn how to block straw over professional wooden blocks, shape and refine your crown and brim and transform raw materials into a beautifully finished, wearable sun hat.
From blocking the straw to wiring, trimming and finishing details, this hands-on class introduces you to the millinery process in a warm, supportive studio environment. If your hat isn’t quite completed by the end of the day, you’ll go home with the materials, knowledge, and confidence needed to finish it at your own pace.
This class is ideal for those with basic hand-stitching skills — nothing advanced, just the ability to thread a needle and sew simple stitches.
Perfect for anyone craving a creative reset, dreaming of making their own headwear, or wanting a deeply satisfying day of making something beautiful and practical.
