Possum Ball

Since launching my label Possum Ball Millinery in 2015, I have dedicated myself to the craft of millinery, honing my skills and developing a deep passion for creating unique and exquisite headpieces.  My journey in this craft has allowed me to master traditional techniques while exploring innovative designs. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and love for millinery, guiding others to discover their own creativity and craftsmanship.

My work has graced catwalks both nationally and internationally, including the prestigious Melbourne Fashion Week. I am particularly proud of my collaboration with Darwin-based Ooroo Australia, where I created millinery pieces featuring award-winning textiles from Aboriginal artists and talented emerging textile designers.

In 2019, 2020, and 2024, I had the honour of serving as President of Millinery Australia. In this role, I was responsible for the leadership, direction, and coordination of the Association. Additionally, I have had the privilege of judging millinery competitions for Millinery Australia’s Design Award, the Royal Melbourne Show, and participating as a judge and guest speaker at various Spring Fashion events.

My signature style is vibrant and colourful, with native flowers prominently featured in my collections. I have a particular fondness for creating top hats and turbans, which are central elements in my yearly collection releases.

I am excited to share my private collection of over 500 hat blocks - many of which are vintage one-off pieces - with students of The Millinery Retreat.
